We take in uncared for, unwanted donkeys who have been failed by people.  They come to us sometimes in terrible condition.  Sometimes the best we can do is give them a humane ending with love but most recover with vetting, farrier work and most importantly lots of love and attention.  Donkeys forgive, but they never forget.  The younger ones we love on and train to become great family members. Sometimes that means learning how to pack, how to become a saddle donkey or just a great pet.

  The older and chronically ill ones stay with us forever and are are part of our family here.  We host special needs adults and children and it is amazing the communication that happens between the donkey and the person...their calmness and intelligence makes them the perfect therapy animal.  We just adopted two donkeys for a child at risk program in Tucson.  We operate on a shoestring and so appreciate any and all help we can get.  The price of feed, medicines, vetting, etc has skyrocketed and we have a hard time keeping up with the cost of running our program.  Many people right now cannot afford to take care of their animals and it's heartbreaking not to be able to help provide a safe place for them.
