FOOTHILLS COMMUNITY CARE is an independent, grassroots, not-for-profit charity focusing on the Dandenong Ranges and Foothills area of Outer Eastern Melbourne offering Hospitality and Community to individuals and families experiencing disadvantage, homelessness, addiction, mental illness and isolation. Over the past 15 years we have been gathering people around food, to provide a place for people to belong, connect and experience genuine hospitality. We do this through our 2 weekly community meals in Upwey on a Monday night and Ferntree Gully on a Wednesday night. Over the past 15 years we have also run our Ferntree Gully Christmas Day Lunch on December 25 for over 230 people each year, to gather together and celebrate, on what for many is a lonely and isolating time. Through our Community Casseroles Co Op we provide home cooked delivered meals for people who need some extra support for a little while, more than food it lets people know they are not alone. We provide over 7,000 meals per year, and behind every meal is a story of local humanity. We believe healthy community is only possible when we all come and share together, and what better way to do this than through hospitality. We rely heavily on volunteers and donations to continue to support our local community.
