Engender Equality
About us
Engender works for the elimination of violence and abuse in Tasmania by providing an integrated and specialist response to family violence. Engender’s practice framework is informed by feminist, human rights and social justice models. We are passionate, inspired and lead by ethics. The elimination of family violence will not be achieved without addressing the primary drivers including gender inequality and rigid gender roles. Engender represents concerns relating to family violence and gender issues and contributes to social policy, media and legislative inquiries in order to raise the profile of the issues that affect the community we work for.Engender is a dynamic and evolving professional organisation founding our philosophies, practice and resources on current research. Engender has a high level of skill, knowledge and experience working with people impacted by violence, delivering community education, producing resources and advocating for systemic change to gender inequity and violence against women. Engender is based on an intersectional feminist framework. Currently funded to deliver services across Tasmania, Engender has offices in Hobart, Burnie and Launceston.
