Drogheda Animal Rescue (DAR) was established in 1997. It is a registered charity, run entirely by volunteers, which is dedicated to taking into its care, animals that have been strayed, abandoned, lost, surrendered by their owners or have been the victims of injury or neglect. DAR helps to restore injured and unwanted animals to health, with appropriate veterinary treatment, and find suitable new homes. DAR operates a strict neutering policy and promotes responsible pet ownership. DAR also operates a year round Trap Neuter Return (TNR) programme to assist in dealing with the massive overpopulation of feral cats in Ireland.
