Over the past fifty years, the Charles River has had a remarkable resurgence. The river is now full of life. It is a source of recreation and a readily available connection to the natural world for Boston residents. It is home to hundreds of ecosystems and more than 8,000 acres of wetlands have been protected forever from development as part of the Natural Valley Storage Project. This resurgence has caused a false sense of “mission accomplished.” The truth is that new and mounting pressures, due to a changing climate, are threatening the health of the Charles. For a river intertwined with 80 miles of bustling civilization, “clean” is not an endpoint, it’s a verb—and it’s our unwavering mission. We’re ready for the challenge, but we need YOUR help. Join us in our fight and invest in CRWA today! Give us the ability to develop and implement strategies based on science, law, and advocacy to address these issues head-on with green infrastructure, water quality monitoring, education, policy changes, and more.
