RizeUp Australia is a community-driven organisation that provides practical support to the many women and families affected by domestic and family violence. Our HOMES program helps families that have been housed in refuge or a motel and then moves onto independent. 99% of the time the family has nothing and the home is completely bare. This is where RizeUp comes in – we put a call out on facebook of what we need such as furniture etc. and the community provides. We pick the items up and completely make the house a home by placing linen, homewares, food, kitchen items, bathroom toiletries, laundry items and the basic furniture such as beds, dining table, lounge and coffee table. This means the family pick up the key and walk into a complete home and it breaks the cycle as they don’t have to worry about setting up home again after being displaced.
Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate. There are women and families from every walk of life and money, material assets, work does not define a woman that suffers
Domestic violence is not a man’s issue, it is not a woman’s issue it is a community issue
The safety, privacy and confidentiality of the volunteers, staff and clients are our top priority and we have established a series of processes that ensure these are not compromised at any stage
