BucksVision is a local sight loss charity supporting blind and visually impaired people in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. Our focus is on ensuring that people with sight loss remain as independent as possible by providing essential information, social activities and equipment.  

We provide support services for blind and partially sighted people across our local area, including:

• Information and advice to enable blind and partially sighted people of all ages to access the services and equipment that they need. 

• Social clubs and activities to enable blind and visually impaired people to get out and about, socialise with peers, keep active and improve their health and wellbeing. Our staff and volunteers organise a range of social activities in the local community, so that people with sight loss can meet and chat and share their experiences. Activities include experience days to places of local interest, walking groups, theatre trips, tai chi, and tandem cycling.

• Our Home Support and Befriending services ensure that vulnerable people receive support that they need at home, including reading correspondence, emotional and practical support, and accompanying them on shopping trips to ensure they stay well and healthy.

• Advice on useful aids and gadgets from our Resource Centre in Aylesbury. We are able to demonstrate a wide range of equipment and devices, from low-tech solutions to high-tech equipment such as digital magnifiers and readers. 

• Specialist “Adapting to Sight Loss” courses that provide useful information and advice about sight loss, including local and national services/ resources, and support that is available from the local authority and local eye clinics. These ensure that blind and partially sighted people feel empowered, manage the impact of their sight loss, and to know that support and help is always available.

BucksVision relies on donations, whether large or small, to raise funds to help blind and partially sighted people lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Many of the services we offer today would not exist without the ongoing generosity of members and the general public. Donations are vital if we are to continue to provide our services.
