About us
The Boomerang Meeting Place (BMP) is a First Nations owned and led community centre in Mogo in the Eurobodalla Shire (New South Wales). It is one of few spaces of its kind in the state.. Mogo is an important cultural and geographic centre for the local Walbunga people stretching from Batemans Bay to Narooma. Boomerang Meeting Place acted as the major relief centre for residents immediately after the fires which swept through the village on New Year’s Eve 2019 and continued to be a central location providing support in the months afterwards. We have a small volunteer executive committee and provide the community with a central location for many activities. Activities include Women's Sewing Group, Women's Art Group, Mens Workshed, Children's gathering, Sunday church services and of course a place for families to gather for birthdays, celebrations and Sorry Business. We receive no official funding support. To cover the cost of utilities and maintenance, we raise money from having garage/yard sales, hire of the premises and rent from two properties - one of which is yet to be rebuilt from the fires. Your support of our small but mighty organisation would help us to continue to provide essential community gatherings and support families and individuals in our area.
