The Bateman Horne Center (BHC) is a 501(c)(3) Center of Excellence dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with ME/CFS, Long COVID, fibromyalgia, and other infection-associated chronic conditions (IACCs) by translating our clinical expertise into medical education and research initiatives.

Millions live with these illnesses, yet most remain undiagnosed or without appropriate treatment that has the potential to improve function and quality of life. Patients often wait years and see multiple physicians before receiving a diagnosis, and at least one-quarter become housebound or bedbound. There are no FDA-approved therapies and few providers trained to help.

Education is central to closing this gap. Through our Medical Education Resource Center (MERC), BHC has trained more than 17,000 healthcare providers in 89 countries and 45 states. Our offerings include accredited CME courses, including the only CME focused on post-exertional malaise. We also run Project ECHO series with the University of Utah and provide hands-on training for residents and fellows. Our free Clinical Care Guide gives clinicians a standard-of-care roadmap for managing these conditions. We are developing curriculum-ready modules so this knowledge reaches medical schools and licensing boards.

Our research draws on more than 20 years of longitudinal data and one of the most comprehensive biobanks in the field. With national and international partners, we work to identify biomarkers, refine diagnostics, and validate treatment strategies.

We also educate patients and caregivers. Through webinars, support groups, and patient resources, we help people understand their illness and work with their care team.
