About us
BC Marine Trails is working toward providing coastal recreationists with tools for positive environmental impact. Through our 3-pillar approach—First Nations Engagement, Trails Development, and Environmental Stewardship—we provide hands-on tools and collaborative feedback loops with recreation partners. Now that our Site Condition Reports (SCRs) are an interactive layer on our BCMT map, and we have several strategic partnerships for tackling marine debris, we are excited about scaling an engaged and connected stewardship network, a collaborative community-led model for actively caring for the coast
Our work consists of connecting with BC Parks and other partners to regularly pickup marine debris in some locations to keep Pacific Ocean sites pristine. This protects the ecosystem and prevents local wildlife from ingesting plastics. Additional work consists of invasive species removal, protection of West Ballenas Island (rare ecosystem), the promotion of our Code of Conduct through a series of online videos and visits/talks in the secondary and post-secondary school system.
Support helps us maintain our cleanup and educational programs.
