Pets are the forgotten clients of food banks. People food banks are not funded nor mandated to provide pet food to pets of clients. Our clients ARE the pets. Because of this, we are not eligible for funding. We rely entirely on donations and with volunteers to operate currently in three provinces, with the goal to be operating in three more by the end of 2021. We would like to expand our food program to include assistant with preventative and emergency vetting, as well as emergency fostering. Imagine having to choose between feeding yourself or your pet, or having to give up your pet because you cannot afford the needed medical care, or having to give up your pet because you have to enter a shelter or are hospitalized. We want no pet to have to give up it's loving family and no loving family to have to give up its pet.
