About us

Anakie Community House is delivered by the Anakie & District Community Group Inc, a not-for-profit established in 1986 and governed by local volunteers. The House is community-led and receives operational funding for core activities, supplemented by small project grants to deliver targeted programs in response to local needs. Committee members and volunteers bring professional experience in managing grant-funded initiatives, strengthening governance, compliance and financial oversight.

The Community House is a key local hub, fostering connection, participation and belonging through playgroups, classes, social events, information sessions, community lunches and production of the Anakie Advocate newsletter. However, limited and largely short-term funding has constrained its capacity to expand programs and respond to the changing needs of the growing community.

Limited local services, lack of public transport, and the dispersed nature of rural living contribute to social isolation, particularly for older residents, stay-at-home parents, and new arrivals seeking connection.
