Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate homeless and abandoned dogs in a no-kill environment until each is adopted into a caring, loving home; and to act as a sanctuary for those dogs who are never adopted. We serve a rural area outside of Dallas, where many unwanted dogs are abandoned on the side of the road and left to fend for themselves. Many of them are ill, injured, or malnourished; others get hit by cars and need emergency medical care. We take in these unwanted animals, give them the care they need, and keep them safe and happy until they find their forever home in a loving family. Some dogs are unable to transition into family life for a variety of reasons, and they will always have a home at the sanctuary at Straydog.
