Snap-nosis and Friends - Reaching a Paw Out for Recovery Cover Photo

Snap-nosis is a non profit organization that has worked in the community rescuing strays and ferals, providing emergency medical care, spays/neuters and rehoming.

This page was originally started in 2015 in efforts of fundraising for one of the chronically ill residents that required an expensive surgery, which was accomplished back then, and this page is also named after him, dear Snap, our mascot <3Prior to  2015 costs were covered out of pocket. We are not funded and struggle with fundraisers to cover these costs. The intake process involves a number of different aspects. First is testing for FIV/FeLV (snap combo test), parasite controls, and addressing any medical conditions noted in the first vet visit. This also includes a two week isolation period to observe for any conditions that may present during that time, and so as not to spread anything amongst those in general population. The next step would be the important neuter or spay, then after the appropriate healing time, becoming available for adoption queries. Any intakes that have chronic illnesses, or conditions requiring long term specialized care, deeming them unadoptable, are moved over to permanent shelter status. At this time there are 7 here that fall into this category, and thankfully my former vocation as a nurse plays an intricate part of their care. Our specialty is with older, critical and chronic care rescues. We have spent the last two years cleaning out and caring for a larger colony that started with over 30, and now down to 3 left to trap.We pride ourselves in non caging, which gives a better opportunity of assessing personalities and interactions, to aid in best placing each kitty into the purrfect home <3 We do however have a post surgical crate, which is large enough for a bed, litter box, feeding area and some roaming, to encourage a safe healing environment and to prevent injuries post surgical (jumping/falling/etc.) We're also known for assisting others when in need of a carrier or trap at no charge, and have fundraised for families with pets in need of serious treatment when they could not afford.
