About us
The Sharks Alumni Foundation provides grants to children in grades K-12 to assist with the cost of sports. Grant applications are reviewed three times per year, and grants are approved and sent to approved applicants. Funds are generated from charitable gifts to the organization as well as fundraising programs run by the San Jose Sharks Alumni and business leaders in the community.
The Sharks Alumni Foundation has a very high fundraising efficiency because it is managed primarily by volunteers. In 2024, 94% of funds generated were available for grants and only 6% went to pay for overhead and operating costs. The Sharks Alumni Foundation rates a Platinum rating on GuideStar Charity rating site.
In 2025, 49 grants were made to applicants. The grants went to 27 boys and 22 girls. Grants were provided for the following sports: 16 for Ice Hockey, 20 for Fastpitch Softball, 8 for Roller Hockey, 3 for Jiu Jitsu, 1 for basketball and 1 for baseball.
