Open Canvas
What if you could empower someone who has experienced homelessness, a disability or other adversity by helping them exhibit art they've created and show it to the world? What if they could earn an income by selling products with their art on it, such as phone covers, tea-towels, puzzles or greeting cards? There are significant barriers faced by such artists which affect their ability to exhibit, promote and sell their art. The cost of exhibiting art in reputable galleries is significant, as is getting art online. Other barriers include accessing art supplies and mentoring opportunities with professional artists. Open Canvas was created to empower disadvantaged artists and help them with these issues. Some have lived on the street, some have disabilities, others have experienced substance abuse and addiction. We've got a website with artwork created by artists. We tell their stories, raise awareness of the issues they've experienced, and get their art out into the world for others to enjoy. Our catch-cry is for people to buy "art with heart". You can make a difference to someone's life by buying original artwork and other merchandise with art on it, such as phone covers, puzzles, tea-towels and greeting cards.
