Norfolk Tortoise Club
About us
The Norfolk Tortoise Club is a non-profit organisation based in Norfolk. The organisation has been running for 20 years, becoming a registered charity in 2017. We rescue and re-home a variety of tortoise species as well as provide support and advice to tortoise keepers. We promote tortoise husbandry and welfare through our annual events, talks and shows as well as provide advice online with our free downloadable care sheets and support group. It began as a small monthly club with regular meetings to discuss husbandry and offered re-homing assistance but has now developed into a local sanctuary with an elected annual committee, ever-improving infrastructure at our headquarters and events which regularly sees over 500 attendees. The demand for our services has never been greater, with more tortoises needing to find new homes each year. Unfortunately tortoises are often bought on impulse and owners underestimate the care involved in keeping these exotic non-native reptiles healthy. Tortoise welfare is important to all members and volunteers and our aim is to do the best we can to improve the lives of pet tortoises in Norfolk and the wider UK.
