Founded in memory of Max Engle, Chester County probation officer and sneaker fanatic, Max's Kicks for Kids provides new, brand name sneakers to kids whose families can not afford them. Last year, we provided sneakers to 1000 local youth whose families were facing housing insecurity, serious illness, and other financial challenges. When a family is struggling to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table, a new pair of sneakers doesn't make the priorities list. But for young people dealing with things most of us can only imagine, a new pair of brand name shoes, like their peers are wearing, can change the world. A properly fitting pair of sneakers allows a kid to participate in PE, to try out for a sports team, and to be physically active. Not to mention the mental health benefit of fitting in with their peers, in spite of what they are dealing with at home. We believe that every kid deserves that feeling of pride and confidence that a new pair of sneakers gives!
