About us

Mission Statement: To provide hope to our community by finding pathways to connect people, food, and resources, creating a meaningful and lasting impact for every neighbor. Vision Statement: We envision a healthy community free of hunger and full of hope. MVFB is a Grocery Store style shopping experience, allowing people to shop the food bank with dignity.

We have seen a 150% increase in clients in the last 5 years.

Our “store” follows the USDA MyPlate Nutrition Guide which increases the opportunity for our customers to choose balanced, nutritious meals. Households who live in our service area can shop weekly, choosing proteins, grains, vegetables, soups, fruit, meats, dairy, fresh produce, breads, and miscellaneous items. Our food bank is committed to providing the Standard Minimum Unit of Services adopted and monitored by the South King County Coalition of Food Banks. We purchase product weekly to ensure we meet this standard and provide healthy foods to our clients. We are the distribution site for Government Commodities for this service area.

Baby Cupboard: Families with babies have access to baby food, formula, diapers, and miscellaneous baby items. Home-bound: Each month, dedicated volunteers fill and deliver boxes of food to families in need who have been identified as home-bound.

School Backpack Program: Provide backpacks filled with school supplies for K-12. Children's Gift Store: Registered parents select from new gifts, generously donated to our Children’s Christmas Gift Center, for their children newborn through age 18.

Holiday Food: Thanks to the generosity of our community, holiday meals are distributed in additional to weekly grocery pickups for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Emergency Services: We help our clients with rent assistance, energy assistance, and other financial emergencies.

Garden Project: We have 8 raised beds to grow veggies for our "grocery store"

Community Services: We have onsite outreach workers who visit to help with homeless issues, SNAP program (food stamps), medical coverage, health insurance, and more.
