Lil Paws is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Chihuahuas in need across Missouri and surrounding states. We accept dogs from owner surrenders, overcrowded shelters, hoarding cases, and at-risk euthanasia lists, with a particular focus on those requiring urgent medical intervention or behavioral rehabilitation due to abuse and neglect. Beyond direct care, we actively engage our community through specialized socialization events, public education initiatives, and outreach programs—including visits to nursing homes and partnerships with local schools—to promote responsible pet ownership and dispel misconceptions about the breed. Lil Paws operates as a dynamic nonprofit organization with a multifaceted approach to community engagement. While animal welfare remains our core mission, we actively participate in diverse public events ranging from comic conventions to Pride festivals, significantly expanding our reach beyond traditional rescue audiences. Our innovative Puppy Playtime events, a rarity among most rescues, have become signature programs that simultaneously socialize dogs and educate the public.
