The IHWT is a registered charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of neglected or abused horses and ponies and specialist in the re-homing of former racehorses and Thoroughbred horses generally. The charity operates from a dedicated farm consisting of 68 acres, stables, barns and arena and is home to up to 70 equines at any one time. The IHWT is always involved in education projects in disadvantaged areas of Ireland and works to raise awareness of equine welfare nationally. To date the charity has re-homed almost 2000 horses and ponies since it was set up in 1999 which includes more than 250 former racehorses. Currently the charity has a farm mortgage of almost half a million euros and this places a huge burden on the charity's limited funding resources. If anyone or any business would like to donate a lump sum to help us to pay of our mortgage that would be fantastic but equally every year we struggle to get through the year with limited funds so all donations are very much appreciated to help us to continue to do our work in rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing horses and ponies in Ireland.
