Hamworthy Hedgehog Rescue
We aim to further the conservation and preservation of the hedgehog species by providing a rescue, care and rehabilitation service for sick, injured, or orphaned hedgehogs, with the aim of eventually releasing them back to the wild, or appropriate protected sites for those with lifelong disabilities, and who can benefit from quality of life within a controlled “wild” environment. In 2019, we had in excess of 600 hedgehogs pass through our rescue, almost all of which would not have survived in the wild without our intervention. This years’ numbers are looking much higher. Every single penny that we receive goes towards food, medical and veterinary bills to treat poorly hedgehogs. A hedgehog costs £5 per week to feed, and with 2020 seeing a remarkable downturn in donations, now is the time to donate, to help us continue our crucial work. Hedgehogs are now classified as 'Vulnerable to Extinction'. If we don't act NOW, we will lose these fascinating creatures from our gardens forever. Thankyou.
