Our mission is to #SaveWildOrangutans and their carbon-rich forest habitat through a holistic approach, combining community-led conservation with long-term, non-invasive scientific research on critically endangered wild orangutans. Recognizing that the wellbeing of people, animals, and the environment are inherently intertwined, we have 5 key program areas:

1. Village Forests - protecting and regenerating forests by supporting local communities in gaining land rights to sustainably manager their traditional forest land.

2. Environmental Education - supporting the next generation of conservation leaders by developing "green school" curricula, environmental youth groups, school lectures, field trips, and outreach via radio programs, mobile cinema, puppet shows, and special community events. We also award 6 full scholarships per year for under resourced local students to attend university.

3. Animal Protection - investigating wildlife crimes, mitigating human-orangutan interactions, and monitoring biodiversity and orangutan populations outside the boundaries of the national park.

4. Sustainable Livelihoods - offering training and support to communities to establish forest-friendly income streams to protect forests and increase human wellbeing

5. Scientific Research - collecting data on wild orangutans in Gunung Palung National Park since 1994 to understand their behavior, health, reproduction, and ecology.
