We envision a North Idaho where every family has a home, a livelihood, and the opportunity to build a better future.

Since 2008, Family Promise of North Idaho has helped families with children remain housed, regain stability, and build brighter futures. As the region's only nonprofit providing shelter that allows families to remain together, we offer a comprehensive housing stability program that combines homelessness prevention, emergency shelter, and stabilization services.

Our prevention services help families resolve housing crises before eviction or homelessness occurs through financial assistance, landlord mediation, housing navigation, and individualized problem solving.

When homelessness cannot be prevented, our emergency shelter program provides safe, family-centered shelter where parents and children remain together while maintaining connections to school, employment, childcare, and community support systems.

Families receive intensive stabilization services through housing-focused case management, life-skills education, budgeting, employment support, and tenancy preparation to help them secure permanent housing and maintain long-term stability.

By addressing both immediate housing crises and the underlying barriers to stability, we help children remain connected to their education, parents maintain employment, and families achieve lasting housing stability. Our goal is not simply to provide temporary shelter, but to ensure homelessness is brief, rare, and non-recurring for the families we serve.
