Civil Aviation Trust
About us
The Civil Aviation Trust is a not for profit charitable organisation that has been formed to save and preserve civil airliners from the United Kingdom and around the world for the benefit of the general public through interactive and educational displays. Stretching back to the 1920’s passenger transport has had a rapidly expanding and technologically advancing history from Biplanes carrying just a few passengers through supersonic travel and airliners capable of carrying 100’s of passengers vast distances. It is a history we want to show with aeroplanes, passenger seating, engines and cabin layouts and crew uniforms through the ages. We are a small but growing team of volunteers all with the same aim, to help preserve aviation history for future generations to enjoy, though civil aviation is not as glamorous as military aviation it still plays an important role in making the world smaller and enabling us to jump on an aeroplane and go and enjoy some summer sun. We currently have the front section of a Bae Jetstream 41 which we are converting into a simulator and open to the public. Our first pressing need is to find a permanent home suitable for our growing collection and to ultimately be able to open to the public. We are currently based near Staplecross in East Sussex at a place called beside the Beaten Tracks and we have taken on one of their large polytunnels which we are turning into a museum.
