My story.

Where do you start? Everyone has their own story or journey to tell in this area.

My own, I have gone from avoiding places abroad with a lot of stray animals as "it’s to upsetting", to being right in the thick of it. All after adopting one little stray dog 12 years ago and taking a trip over to see where he came from.

A trip out to Serbia or any Balkan country as an animal lover has a huge impact. Nothing prepares you for the sheer overwhelming emotions of the endless stream of suffering and abandonment everywhere you turn, it haunts you. My words were “we aren’t even touching the surface here”. You learn to box your emotions and use that to drive and focus on what you can do and that for me after one horrendous trip was the spay & neuter campaign.

I teamed up with Natasa Lukovic and our first clinics were in a rented small room with a visiting vet, and recovery was outside on the grass. The facilities were basic but they did the job in the pop-up clinic...and yes, I did cry holding a little stray dog coming out of an operation, sat on that grass after we had to abort her early pregnancy !!!

8 Years on we have widespread clinics across Serbia and have just reached our 4500th spay. The clinic described above is now in a proper vet office with a proper waiting and recovery area and we have 3 vets helping with operations and a fetching and returning animals….and we have waiting lists. Natasa no longer having to leaflet drop and try to fill the spaces each clinic. We have more demand than money.

We have visited a school and we have advertised the clinic via a major racing event. Something we need to be very proud of and to keep doing with all the support we can get.

Please Please support neuter and spay programmes, we need to focus and preventing the suffering we see daily .
