About us
Animal Welfare Furness was established for the welfare and protection of animals in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances, ill-usage or other similar causes and the prevention of cruelty to and suffering amongst animals.
We are a small charity, operating a rescue cattery and supporting the animals and community of the large Furness area in south Cumbria. We are working to improve the welfare of cats and dogs through providing financial support to those who find themselves unable to pay the required veterinary costs to care for their pets; running a rehoming programme from our rescue cattery and dog fosters, providing care and veterinary treatment; operating a Trap Neuter Release programme to reduce the ever increasing numbers of feral cats, therefore reducing the spread of deadly diseases and allowing these colonies to live safely, well fed and cared for.
We are continuously striving to meet the needs of animals in our area and with the rising costs of food, equipment and veterinary bills, we can only continue to do this through charitable donations and support from within and outside our community. All funds raised directly support the animals under our care.
