The American Humanist Association is a defiant force for good in an era that demands nothing less. We’re the movement for people who believe in people—who reject dogma, demand justice, and know that humanity’s worth doesn’t come from above, but from within. We fight for abortion rights, LGBTQ+ equality, secular government, racial justice, and the kind of future you’d actually want to live in. We're building communities, raising hell, and organizing humanists to take power—because we don’t wait for change. We are the change.

Here’s what that looks like in action:

We sue—and win. We ended a decade-long court battle over government-led Christian prayer in Ocala, Florida. We blocked millions in taxpayer funds from subsidizing religious lobbying in West Virginia. Now, we're challenging forced religious indoctrination in public schools.

We build secular power. We’re growing representation for the nonreligious in Congress, training advocates, hosting lobby days, and helping everyday humanists speak out on Capitol Hill.

We fight lies with visibility. We launched the Humanist Creator Fund to support bold, evidence-based atheist and humanist creators on TikTok, YouTube, and beyond—meeting right-wing disinformation with smart, funny, fearless content. So the next teen who searches “Is it wrong not to believe in God?” finds community, not condemnation.

We defend democracy. Our Democracy Not Theocracy campaign mobilized thousands before Election Day: handwritten postcards to voters in swing states, student Democracy Defense Fellows on campuses, grants to local organizers, and viral campaigns exposing Project 2025.

We build real community. Over 1,400 humanists have joined our new online hub. We’ve launched a Humanist Parenting Group, daily Dose of Humanism texts, and new support systems for local chapters nationwide. People who’ve been told they don’t belong—nonreligious parents, LGBTQ+ youth, ex-evangelicals—are finding their people.

We train the next generation. Our interns lead real projects: writing advocacy toolkits, designing Gen Z-friendly education programs, and launching campus campaigns. We don’t just mentor young leaders—we amplify them.

We show up where it counts. Our grants support humanists helping Mississippi families hit by ICE raids, Denver residents facing economic crisis, and youth-led responses to anti-LGBTQ hate. We’ve taken on Ron DeSantis’s “War on Christmas” with full-page ads and brought humanist chaplains to activist spaces.
