About us
Transforming Education—and Futures—in Rural Tanzania
In rural Tanzania, millions of children—especially girls—are denied the chance to learn, thrive, and lead. Barriers like poverty, early marriage, unsafe commutes, and lack of menstrual care force girls out of school as early as age 12. But the problem runs deeper: under-resourced teachers, crumbling classrooms, and disconnected systems fail entire communities.
Africa School Assistance Project (ASAP) is changing that. We partner with underserved communities and government leaders to rebuild local education ecosystems from the ground up—classrooms, dormitories, teacher support, menstrual health, STEM tools, life skills, and shared accountability. Our Kupanda Project for Girls wraps adolescent girls in the support they need to stay in school and rise as leaders—achieving a 96% graduation rate in communities where 4% was the norm.
ASAP’s ward-based model transforms entire clusters of schools—cost-effectively and sustainably—through deep community ownership. Our partner schools become district models. Our students become change agents.
This is more than school building—it’s system building. It’s health, dignity, opportunity, and equity in action.
Supporting ASAP means investing in a future where no child is left behind—where local communities lead, and girls rise with power and purpose.
