Wonderfest is the 28-year-old “Bay Area Beacon of Science.” Through science outreach programs, nonprofit Wonderfest inspires curiosity, promotes careful reasoning, challenges unexamined beliefs, and encourages life-long learning. In particular, we help the general public to interact with scientists; we award the Carl Sagan Prize for Science Popularization; and we help UC Berkeley and Stanford PhD students to become accomplished science communicators — in the spirit of Carl Sagan, Jane Goodall, and Neil deGrasse Tyson. After all, science insight is important for every individual and for all of society. Wonderfest presents deep (and fun) public science programs about how the world really works — because a society that doesn't face reality is a society headed for disaster.
