Chesed is a foster-based animal rescue, typically serving dogs and cats up to 25 pounds.  Once an animal comes into our rescue, it is considered family for life.  All medical needs are taken care of and new homes and adopters are checked carefully before any animal is placed.  We believe that the perfect adopter will not just meet the physical needs of the animal, but the emotional needs as well.  Many of our rescues have been through tough times, and once they come to us, we promise them that they will be taken care of and loved for the rest of their lives.  We are solely volunteer based and all money that is donated goes towards medical care for our animals and the Kobi Center, our animal supply pantry supporting local pet owners in need.  All of our humans, including our board and day to day directors, are volunteers, and we do not maintain an adoption facility; all of our animals are in loving foster homes.

Our official mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted pets and to provide services for local needy pets and their owners.

Our philosophy is embodied in our name: Chesed is often translated as "loving kindness". To us, that means acting on behalf of those that can’t help themselves. Chesed Foundation Rescue was unofficially started 25 years ago. In 2004, Chesed was incorporated as a non-profit and in January of 2005, received designation as a 501(c)(3) charity in the United States.  We are based in South Florida.
