At St Martins we make bold, disruptive theatre fueled by the voices of children and teenagers for adult audiences. Creativity is something that belongs to all of us. At St Martins we make art because we believe adults have a lot to answer for and children ask the best questions. They provide astonishing responses. Within our workshops and rehearsals, they challenge social assumptions, expose hypocrisies and voice inequalities. They make us see the world from a different perspective. We want to disrupt adults’ perceptions of young people in the world. We want adults to create space in our society for young people’s opinions to be heard. We focus on inclusion, participation and access across everything we do. Barriers to the arts exist for many children and young people. These may come from disability, learning challenges, cultural and linguistic difference or economic difficulty. Through our work we strive to dissolve these barriers. Our workshop program features our unique integrative inclusion method for young people. Our diverse teaching staff have training in using Auslan, Visual mapping, tactile exercises, understanding neuro diversity, working with challenging behaviours. At St Martins, everyone is encouraged to adapt. Everyone is learning from each other whether they have accessibility needs or not.
