We are a charity which coordinates non-emergency flights to assist country people to access medical treatment that would otherwise be unavailable to them because of vast distances and high travel costs. All flights are free and may involved patients travelling to medical facilities anywhere in Australia. To meet our guidelines, passengers must be medically stable, ambulatory and physically able to enter and exit a small aircraft, or have a carer who can assist.We have conducted almost 50,000 flights transporting approximately 100,000 patients, carers and family members since our foundation in 2003.Flights are conducted by volunteer pilots in their own aircraft. We always have a back-up plan, which may be a drive to an airport to access a regular airline service ( such as Rex Airlines), or a change to appointment times. Angel Flight operates Australia-wide with a growing network of pilots and aircraft. Angel Flight's ground volunteers provide car transportation between the city airports and medical facilities (or nearby accommodation). Significantly, Angel Flight spends no donor funds on marketing, advertising or promotions. The donations go to where they are intended, and are unsolicited. Angel Flight never contacts donors to request further support - and keeps all donor details confidential.
