Since 1998 WFK has produced 45,400 wheelchairs all of which were provided free of charge to a variety of organisations who distributed them to disabled children all over the world.
The WFK ADJUSTA wheelchair was developed at Wangara in 2010 using the WHO Guidelines for Wheelchairs for Developing Countries .WFK require our wheelchair to be fitted in accordance with WHO guidelines,.
The wheelchair was tested to ISO 7176 by volunteers using equipment developed and produced by students from UWA Mechanical Engineering Department.
Donors are assured that 100% of their monies are used to build wheelchairs as administration costs are kindly provided by other income sources. Namely, administration costs (excluding rent) are absorbed by the Rotary Club of Scarborough.
The State Government, through the Premier’s Department, pays 50% of rental costs.
This assistance, combined with the generous support from suppliers has enabled Wheelchairs for Kids to produce a World Health Organisation approved, fully adjustable, rough terrain wheelchair for just $200. No one within the Wheelchairs for Kids organisation is paid for their services.
