By supporting Sutherland Shire Family Services (SSFS) you are helping tp support the lives of families with young children who are impacted by disadvantage, violence, and trauma. We offer a range of services and programs that aim to strengthen the capacity of families within our community, with many of our services supporting families impacted by domestic violence. Did you know that 12 people every day in the Sutherland & St.George areas report a domestic violence incident to Police? SSFS offer numerous programs and services to these families (and others affected by domestic violence who come to our service) including 1 on 1 support by a Domestic Violence Support Worker, safety planning services, referral to trauma counseling and other specialist support services. SSFS work with more than 175 families at any one time, with many more on our wait-list. Resources are stretched to ensure we provide services that promote safety for children and families. This situation is not sustainable.We urgently need to raise funds for SSFS to enable supply to the unmet need. We provide specialized parenting programs, youth and family caseworker services, therapeutic programs, Aboriginal support programs and domestic violence victim support services, SSFS work with families with children under the age of 12 to help them keep them safe and improve communication and relationships between family members to create an environment that allows children to flourish.
