Healesville Living and Learning Centre (HLLC) is an community adult education provider. We are a Not For Profit, registered charity focused on community participation and inclusiveness through the application of a community development ethos. We provide programs that enable local people to improve their life and enable them to build for a better future. As the local Neighbourhood House we have nearly 40 years of experience in providing community development and lifelong learning programs that contribute to the health and well being of the local community. HLLC is an active member of the Neighbourhood House sector and adheres to the Sector Principles of community ownership, community participation, empowerment, access & equity, lifelong learning, inclusion, networking, advocacy, self-help and social inclusion. Our purpose is to build sustainable community connections with choice, opportunity & flexibility that is responsive to local needs and issues. We work to redress structural disadvantage in society through our philosophy, principles & practices. We are inclusive and supportive of people from diverse backgrounds and with varying abilities and we aim to improve the social, environmental, economic and cultural infrastructures within our community. HLLC runs the local East End Opportunity Shop and has done so since 1979 to provide free or low cost clothing and goods for people in need, act as our major fundraiser and also provide volunteering opportunities. The Centre has an extensive volunteer program that includes over 25 positions as well as specialised positions for people on Work for the Dole and with Centrelink obligations.
Our work is to support the community, especially those that are disadvantaged or vulnerable that just need a hand up.
100% of every dollar raised goes back into supporting the community.
