Finding yourself pregnant and alone or with little or no support is frightening for a young woman. She needs a place to breathe, where caring and non-judgmental staff will listen and support her practically, emotionally and materially. Eva's Place is the only center in Toowoomba dedicated to supporting young women though their pregnancy and first year of parenting. Services are free and include a mentoring program, support group, counselling, in home visiting program and provision of baby goods. As young women access Eva's Place services, they 'earn' Eva's Place Dollars which then can be 'spent' in the Baby Boutique, thereby acquiring all the baby clothes, furniture and other items they need for their coming baby. Young women speak highly of their experience with Eva's Place, such as "The help I received at Eva's Place means more to me than I can express" and "I can't thank you enough for all you've done for me and my little girl." Staff at Eva's Place are dedicated professionals who volunteer their time. Eva's Place is not government funded and relies on private and corporate donations to meet all the costs of running the service.
