Since 1993 BASE Services has been providing lunch time meals and a friendly face, Monday to Friday, to people in need including men and women of all ages who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness, ex-service people, people with mental health issues, people with disabilities, individuals, families, Indigenous Australians, migrants, people with behavioural issues or trauma as a result of abuse, family, separation, grief or loss. Each day we see 50 to 70 people come into our soup kitchen for a meal. We also provide swags, food hampers, clothing, hygiene packs and access to outreach support services which we host on a weekly basis, these include a General Practitioner from Goolburri Aboriginal Health Care Services, the Department of Human Services, Oz Care Health Clinic, NDIS worker and the Life Recovery alcohol and other drug day program. Frequently through our services and strong partnerships we can help meet people’s essential needs, ensure individuals well-being and dignity and create pathways to exit or avoid becoming homeless. One of our pathways out of homelessness is 2nd shot which provides hospitality training and employment opportunities to people experiencing homelessness. Base Services operates without any government funding we are dependent 100% on donations and support from the community to keep our doors open
